Elizabeth ?Betty? Truimpho St. Johnsville ?Elizabeth ?Betty? Triumpho, 88, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, NY. Born Elizabeth Irene Atwood, the daughter of the late George and Ethel Genung Atwood, May 1, 1918 in Waverly, NY. Married Joseph J. Triumpho, St. Johnsville, NY June 16. 1943. She graduated from Ithaca College, with a bachelor of science in music. She began her teaching career as the music supervisor at Oppenheim-Ephratah school. She taught at the St. Johnsville Elementary for over 25 years. She was also the first Head Start Summer Program teacher in the early 1960?s. She and her husband Joe, owned and operated the BettyJo Shoppe in St. Johnsville from 1951-1963. For several years they lived and worked in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, where Betty taught at private schools. They retired in 1978 and moved back to St. Johnsville, spending their summers in their chalet in the Oppenheim area, and their winters in Vero Beach, Fl. Mrs. Triumpho was an active member of the DAR, St. Johnsville Chapter, the Eastern Star, as well as a member of several other civic organizations. She is survived by her twin sister, Louisa Taylor, Waverly. Sisters ?in-laws, Carmen T. Collins, Utica, Veronica T. Wytrwal, Nashua, NH., Grace T. Cairns, Las Vegas, Rose T. Sullivan, Phoenix, Frances T. Malone, Laurens, SC. Brothers-in-law, James V. Triumpho, Florence, SC, Richard T. Triumpho, St. Johnsville. Mrs. Triumpho is survived by many nieces, nephews, including Mike Malone Atlanta, GA., & Susan Cook of Gray Court, SC and many great nieces & great nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Joseph. Memorial services will be held on Monday April 9, 2007 at 3:00 pm from the St. John's Reformed Church, with Reverend Jennifer Reece, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Johnsville Cemetery later in the spring. Friends and relatives may call at the church on Monday April 9, 2007 from 2:00 pm until the time of the services. All memorial contributions may be made to St. John?s Reformed Church. Envelopes will be available at the Church
