Obituary of Peter Usselmann

Peter J. ?Pete? Usselmann, 69, of Salisbury Center, passed away on Tuesday July 24, 2007 at his home. He was born July 15, 1938 in Little Falls, the son of the late Dr. John P. & Louise (Murphy) Usselmann. Peter was a graduate of St. Mary?s Academy, Class of 1957 and attended LaMoyne College. His marriage to Karen Van Allen took place on August 26, 1967 at St. Mary?s Church in Little Falls. Mr. Usselmann was a Vietnam veteran, enlisting on November 19, 1963 and was honorably discharged on November 10, 1965 with the rank of SP4. Pete was last employed as Vice President and General Manager of Midway Industrial Supply in Utica, NY. Pete enjoyed creating and designing unique custom works in his wood shop. He was well known in the Salisbury community and he always made time for his friends. Mr. Usselmann was a member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Dolgeville, as well as a member of Little Falls Elks Lodge, # 42, Little Falls VFW post # 4612 where he was past commander for two years, and Chairman of the Town of Salisbury Planning Board. A man dedicated to his family, Pete was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather who always put their needs before his. Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Karen, two sons, John Usselmann and wife Debbie of Arcadia, California, and Daniel Usselmann and wife Laura of Streamwood, Ill., two daughters, Kristen Culpepper and husband Christopher of Salisbury Center, and Terese Cargen and husband Rob of Salisbury, two sisters, Mary Crawford and husband Walter of Glenville, NY and Jane Pinto and husband Louis of Chalfont, PA, seven grandchildren, Brandon, Kelly and Alyssa Culpepper; Maya, Jacob and Claire Cargen and Riley Usselmann, and several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Funeral services will be held on Friday July 27, 2007 at 10:00 am from St. Joseph?s Church, Dolgeville, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Leo Potvin, pastor. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer with full military honors accorded. Friends and relatives may call at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY on Thursday July 26, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. All memorial contributions may be made to the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Members of the Little Falls VFW are asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 7:30 pm for services.
