Obituary of Richard Vivlamore

ILION-Mr. Richard D. Vivlamore, 85, of 80 E. North St., Ilion, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, December 6, 2007 in Faxton/St. Luke?s Healthcare, New Hartford with the comfort of his family at his side. He was born on April 30, 1922 in Malone, son of the late Clarence and Eva (Mitchell) Vivlamore and educated in Saranac Lake schools. He came to Ilion in 1941. He enlisted with the Army of the United States on Nov. 13, 1942 and was honorably discharged on January 13, 1946 at the Fort Dix Separation Center. Richard was the recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. On August 1, 1949, he was united in marriage with the former Margaret Carter in Norwood, NY. For 41 years, Richard was employed by Remington Arms, Ilion retiring at the age of 59 as a tool/model maker. He attended the Annunciation Church, Ilion. Mr. Vivlamore was a member of the Ilion/Frankfort VFW, American Legion Post #920 of Ilion and the Ilion Fish and Game Club. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting. Mr. Vivlamore leaves his wife Margaret of Ilion; a son: Thomas Vivlamore and wife Nancy of Ilion; a daughter: Kathleen Decker and husband Bernard of Mohawk; three sisters: Rachel Cummings of Lake Placid, Beatrice Hyde of Rochester, and Betty Chouniard of New Mexico a brother: Jack Vivlamore and wife Kathryn of Florida; five grandchildren: James Mazzitelli and companion Michelle Roth of Virginia, Aaron and Patrick Decker of Mohawk, Jennifer Williams and husband Scott of New Hartford, and Dave Vivlamore and wife Jackie of Herkimer; three great grandchildren: Connell and Gavin Williams and Zach Harrington; several nieces, nephews and cousins; in laws: Claudia Murray of Ilion, Eugene and MaryAnn Carter of Herkimer, Leona Carter of North Carolina, Richard Carter of Wisconsin, Robert Carter of Arizona, Linda Carter of Albany, Charlie Ferguson of Parishville, and Dorothy Vivlamore of Rochester. He was predeceased by a brother: Robert Vivlamore and by two sisters: Rita Ferguson and Grace Vivlamore. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., between Ilion and Frankfort, 894-8000, on Monday, December 10, 2007 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 9:30 am on Monday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10 am in the Church of the Annunciation, West St., Ilion with the Rev. Anthony Barratt, pastor officiating assisted by Deacon James Bowers. Procession will follow to St. Mary?s Cemetery, town of Herkimer where he will be laid to rest. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Faxton/St. Luke?s Healthcare, ICU and CCU. They would also especially like to thank the nurses and staff of the 4th floor for the loving, care and comfort during Mr. Vivlamore?s final days.
