Obituary of Mae Wercznyski

Mae Loretta Wercznyski, 75, formerly of Herkimer, passed away on Tuesday February 13, 2007 while she was a patient at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY. She was born on May 20, 1931 in Herkimer the daughter of the late George & Marie (LaCelle) Waghorn. She attended St. Francis de Sales School in Herkimer. On June 1, 1963, she was united in marriage to Vincent V. Wercznyski at St. Francis de Sales Church. They shared 30 years of marriage until his death in 1993. There were no children. She was presently employed at the Herkimer Area Resource Center in Herkimer, until the time of her death. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Despite some hard times she always had a smile on her face and a cheerful laugh. She enjoyed traveling with her special friend and companion Betty Beyers of Poland. Survivors include a sister, Theresa ?Frances? Waghorn of Hopewell, Virginia; five nephews, Raymond Cardinal and wife Roseanne of Frankfort; Andrew Cardinal and wife Betty of New Jersey; William Waghorn and wife Rebecca of Rochester; Stephen Waghorn of Poland, and James Waghorn of Herkimer; four nieces, Carolyn Musella of Little Falls; Deborah Cyr and husband Raymond of Frankfort; Rebecca Clarey of Marlborough, Mass.; and Janet Mantell and husband Michael of Durham, North Carolina many great nieces & great nephews, a sister-in-law, Carolyn Waghorn of Herkimer and a brother-in-law, Donald Musella of Toronto, Canada. She was pre-deceased by a brother, William Waghorn of Herkimer, and 2 sisters, Janet Musella of Little Falls, and Mary Cardinal of Frankfort. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday February 27, 2007 at 1:00 pm from the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY with Reverend Mark Cunningham, pastor of St. Francis de Sales Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Tuesday February 27, 2007, from 11:00 am until the time of the services. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the doctors, and nurses of Bassett Healthcare for the care shown to Mae during her final days. All memorial contributions may be made to North Gage Presbyterian Church on Military Road, Remsen, NY or the Herkimer County Humane Society in Mohawk, NY.
