ILION - Doris H. Wheelock, 84, currently of the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, a longtime Ilion resident, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare. Doris was born April 17, 1923, in Little Falls, daughter of the late Edward and Dorcas Crim. She attended school locally, and was a high school graduate. She was united in marriage to Howard M. Wheelock in Ilion, and shared a devoted union until Howard's passing March 5, 2001. Doris worked as a Home Healthcare Aide in the valley area. She attended St. Augustine's Church, was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 1010 at one time serving as Senior Regent, she loved animals, and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include her five daughters and their spouses, Sandy Davis of Brookfield, Bonnie Witt of Kentucky, Robbin and Al Smith of Indiana, Cheryl Tubia and Vinny Carino of Ilion, Deborah and Leo Rinaldi of Mohawk; four sons and their spouses, Miles Ackler and his wife Hannah of Ilion, Wendell and Elisa Crim of North Carolina, Darryl and Florence Wheelock of Ilion, Kevin and Kathy Wheelock of Frankfort, many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Howard, grandson Todd Wheelock, brother Leonard Crim, and sons-in-law Art Witt and Aaron Davis. Doris' funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2007, commencing at 1 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Father George Greene officiating. Procession to Litchfield Cemetery for interment will follow. Family and friends are invited to visitation Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home.
