Obituary of Dorothy Williams

ILION ? Dorothy L. (Fear) Williams, age 78, formerly of 114 John St., Ilion, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007 at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion, where she had resided since 2002. She was born on Dec. 8, 1928 in Ilion, the daughter of Harold E. and Edith (Norton) Fear and graduated from Ilion High School in 1946 and Mount Ida College, Newton Center, Mass. Dorothy was a cashier at K-Mart, Herkimer for many years and was affectionately known as ?the K-Mart Lady.? She was also the manager at the Whiffletree Inn, Ilion. At one time, Dorothy was employed as a clothing buyer in Rochester and Schenectady. She also worked at the Empire Diner, Herkimer. Survivors include several cousins and many close friends and dear neighbors including Dan and Phyllis Curtin of Ilion, Dee Cook, Patty Caruso and Robin Hall of Herkimer, Bob and Betty Harter and Lois Manley of Ilion; her close K-Mart friends (both employees and customers), and friends from Whiffletree Inn and Empire Diner. She was predeceased by her parents. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service for Dorothy on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007 at 1 p.m. at St. Augustine?s Episcopal Church, Second Street, Ilion with Rev. Thomas Trees, rector officiating. Special thanks is given to the staff at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home for the excellent care and compassion given to Dorothy. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home New Renovations Fund. Envelopes are available at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, - 102 West St., Ilion or during the memorial service on Tuesday.
