Obituary of John Wyraz

Mr. John W. ?Jack? Wyraz 84 of 48 East Faville Avenue Dolgeville, a resident of the Van Allen Nursing Home, died Monday September 24, 2007 at the home of natural causes. He was born in Little Falls, on March 13, 1923 the son of Walter and Martha (McCluskey) Wyraz and was a graduate of St. Mary?s School in Little Falls. A veteran of World War II he served honorably from January 25, 1943 until his discharge in October 5, 1945. Jack served in the Army/Air Force with the 3701st, serving in Rhineland, Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France and Ardennes. Sgt Wyraz was awarded the following service medals, European ?African-Middle Eastern Service Medal w/6 Bronze Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and Three Overseas Bars. His marriage to the former Gertrude Teidman took place on April 23, 1947 in St. Mary?s Church in Little Falls. The couple celebrated 60 years of marriage this past April. Jack was employed by the Liberty Tool & Die Company of Rochester as a welder and foreman until his retirement in 1986. The couple then moved to Dolgeville. He was a member of the American Legion Post, the Dolgeville Lions Club and the Oppenheim Senior Citizens. He personally enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. Jack is survived by his wife of 60 years Gertrude, a brother Robert Wyraz and a sister Edwina Wyraz both residents of the Masonic Home in Utica, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Walter Wyraz in 1989. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday September 27, 2007 at 11 AM in Holy Family Parish, Little Falls, New York. Father Anthony F. Ligato, pastor will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home, 3 E. Faville Ave., Dolgeville.
