Obituary of Charles Ashworth

Charles "Al" Ashworth, 95, of Little Falls, formerly of Westbrookville, passed away at the Little Falls Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility on Sunday morning, Aug. 27, 2006. Al was born in Westbrookville, on July 11, 1911, son of the late Daniel and Sybil (Decker) Ashworth. On September 21, 1935, Al was united in marriage with Ruth Cuddeback in Port Jervis. The couple have enjoyed a blessed union of seventy years. He was a partner in the family business known as the Ashworth Woolen Mill Factory in Westbrookville. He also worked as a fireman at the NYS Training School located in Otisville and New Hampton, NY. He was a longtime member of the Westbrookville Fire Dept. The couple has resided in Little Falls for the past twenty years. Al loved his family. He had a wonderful appreciation and love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his beloved family; his wife: Ruth of Little Falls; two children: Shirley Wilcox and husband Frank of Little Falls and Sharon Rice and husband Art of Little Falls; his grandchildren: Sarah Adelman and husband Todd and Rachael Wilcox all of Newton, Ma., Jessica Gardner and husband Geoffrey of Menands, Michelle Dumas and husband Andy of Jefferson; great grandchildren: Daniel, Rebecca, and Elizabeth Adelman, and Alexia and Kara Dumas. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Al was predeceased by two brothers and one sister. As Al requested, relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service which will commence at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2006 at the Cuddebackville Cemetery. The family is being served by the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls.
