Mrs. Vera Robbins Baum 92 a resident of the Brentwood Nursing home in Warwick, RI since November 2005 and former resident of Dolgeville died Tuesday February 28, 2006 at the nursing home. She was born in Gloversville, New York on August 27, 1913 the daughter of Orson T. and Lottie (Slade) Robbins and was educated in Gloversville schools. She also attended a private Business College. Her marriage to John H. Baum took place on July 3, 1937 at her parent?s home with the Rev. Burlin Main of the Methodist church officiating. Mr. Baum predeceased her on November 6, 1971. Vera worked at Abdella?s Department store in Gloversville as a bookkeeper prior to moving to Dolgeville in 1938. In 1958 she began her employment as secretary at the Dolgeville High School office retiring from there in 1971. She then went back to work in the office of the Alfred Dolge elementary school where she stayed until 1975. She enjoyed her relationship with her church and especially her contacts with the Bible study group led by her special friend Eleanor Ortlieb. She is survived by a Daughter and son in law with whom she lived from April 2002 until last November Sandra and Gary E. Jones of East Greenwich, RI, a Son and his wife John L, and Jacklyn Baum of Hollister, CA, her Grandchildren Gary John Jones, Melanie Motter and her husband Paul, Christina and her husband Mark Brady, Stephanie and her husband John Melton and Tracy Baum, her Great Grandchildren Valerie Motter, Melissa Melton, Samantha Melton and Aby Melton, A Sister in Law Betty Stoddard of Conn. And her very special friend Eleanor Ortlieb. She was predeceased by her Brothers L. Keith and Charles S. Robbins and a Sister Ruth Robbins. A Memorial service will be held at a later date in Dolgeville with internment of her cremains in the Salisbury Rural Cemetery. There are no Calling hours.
