Obituary of Dorothy Bostwick-Ferguson

Dorothy M. (Hill) Bostwick-Ferguson of Richfield Springs, formerly of Mohawk and Ilion, passed away peacefully at the home of her son and daughter-in law, Neal and Norma, on November 10, 2006, surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born on February 3, 1915, in the town of Worcester , NY, the daughter of the late Bertha Campbell Hill, and Delmer Hill. She was educated in West Hill Grade School and Schenevus High School. Dorothy was a member of the Schenevus Baptist Church, where she was united in marriage to the late Ralph I. Bostwick on August 20, 1933. Dorothy and Ralph moved to the Mohawk valley area in 1957, where Dorothy was employed in advertising for many years, first with The Evening Telegram, and then with the Valley Home News until her retirement in 1980. Dorothy was an active member of the Mohawk Reformed Church, the women's group RCW, and Bible study. She volunteered for Catholic Charities and the American Red Cross of the Mohawk Valley. She was active in the Mohawk and Ilion Senior Citizens Groups. Dorothy most enjoyed her family, serving the Lord, camping, working in her garden, and playing cards. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Ralph, a son Lawrence (Larry), a grandson Dwayne, five brothers, LeRoy, Fenton, Clifford, Alton and Harold Hill and one sister Lela Angle. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and David Agusta of Fairport, NY, a son and daughter-in-law, Neal and Norma Bostwick of Richfield Springs, a sister-in-law Margery Hill of Newport, nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Following twelve years of widowhood, Dorothy was united in marriage to Daniel Ferguson of Mohawk, on May 21, 2005. This union provided each of them several months of comfort and companionship until his death on March 26, 2006. Dorothy was elated to expand her family to include Daniel's children and grandchildren, and she grew to love them in the short time they had together. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, November 16, 2006 from 6-8 pm. Funeral service with the Reverend Brian Engel, pastor of the Mohawk Reformed Church officiating, will be held on Friday, November 17, 2006, commencing at 10:00 am from the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street between Ilion & Frankfort (894-8000). Committal will take place at 3:00 pm at the family plot in East Worcester Cemetery on Route 7, East Worcester, NY. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to Hospice and Palliative Care or the Elevator Fund at the Mohawk Reformed Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
