Obituary of Joseph Bulger

Joseph "Joe" Bulger, 58, of Perry St., Herkimer, and formerly of Little Falls, passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, July 18, 2006. He was born on October 23, 1947, in Little Falls, son of the late Francis "Mike" and Mary (Restante) Bulger and was educated in Little Falls. Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army in November of 1967. He faithfully served his country in Germany and Vietnam where he was discharged in 1970. Joe was the recipient of several medals of honor during his time of service. He then returned home to raise his younger brother Michael after the death of both his parents. His last employment was with Remington Arms, Ilion. A loving and devoted father, he was his children's best friend and closest confidante personifying commitment and compassion. He has always been and will always continue to be an exemplary role model for them. Joe offered gentle qualities of compassion to his brothers and their families. Joe is survived by his wife Harlene, three beloved children: Tiffany of Little Falls and Joseph Harlan and Michael Joseph both at home. He is also survived by two brothers and their fiance's: Robert Bulger and Mary Lott of Mohawk, and Michael Bulger and Christine Mahoney of Little Falls; two nephews: Eric Bulger of Remsen and Steven Bulger and his fiance Laura Shaffner of Little Falls. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, on Thursday morning, July 20, 2006, from 10-11 a.m. His funeral will commence at the conclusion of visitation (11 a.m.) in the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph Famulare, officiating. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where he will be laid to rest in the family plot.
