Obituary of Leona Carpenter

Mrs. Leona Mae (Sonaband) Carpenter, age 79, of Dolgeville, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. She was born on September 23, 1927 in Stratford and was educated there. Her parents Ace and Jennie (Bullock) Siver preceded her in death. Leona and her family lived on a farm in Poland for several years. She was married to Bernard Carpenter on December 21, 1946 in Dolgeville. Mr. Carpenter passed away on June 17, 2001. Leona was a member of the Little Falls American Legion Post Auxiliary and the Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club. She last worked at Daniel Green Shoe in Dolgeville. Leona will fondly be remembered for her love of baking and camping. She found much pleasure in dancing also. She is survived by her children: Gail White and husband John of Ilion, Joyce Holdridge and companion Harold L. Moore of Dolgeville, and Lori Carpenter and companion Kevin Ireland of Queensbury, sisters: June Slabe and husband Edward of Little Falls; Readoth Young and companion Dalton Sherman of Little Falls; and Florence Bowers of Dolgeville, brothers: Raymond Siver, Ronald Siver and wife Erma and George Siver and wife Sandra all of Dolgeville; grandchildren: Alan Lee Carpenter, Michelle Childress and husband Jacob, Dean Holdridge, Jr., Larry Holdridge, Jeremiah Moore, Amanda Carpenter and Ashley Cool; great grandchildren: Hunter Collis, Mason Childress, Charisma Nicole Carpenter, and Calib Andrew Carpenter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sons: Larry, 1972, Jerry, 1974, and Alan in 1992. Funeral services will be held on Monday evening, December 4, 2006 at 7:00 PM from the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home with Rev. Rebecca Laird officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family at Mt. View Memorial Gardens, little Falls. Relatives and friends may call two hours prior at the funeral home from 5-7 PM Monday. Those wishing may consider donations to the S & S Ambulance Corps. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. The family extends special thanks to the nursing staff at Little Falls Hospital and St. Elizabeth's Medical Center for their compassion shown.
