Consuelo (Ramos) Castro, 72, of 28 Orchard St., Mohawk, passed away at home Wednesday morning, Feb. 15, 2006, with loved ones by her side. Consuelo was born July 14, 1933, in Las Marias, Puerto Rico, daughter of Manuel and Julia (Rodriguez) Ramos. She attended school in Puerto Rico and Essex County Community College in New York. On June 30, 1990, she was united in marriage to Arcelio Castro in Ilion. Consuelo was last employed as a drug rehabilitation counselor at CURA in Newark, N.J. She was of the Roman Catholic faith. Survivors include her devoted husband, Arcelio; one beloved daughter, Mary Ann Wood of Ilion; two beloved sons, David Ruperto and Eddie Garcia, both of Mohawk; seven cherished grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Lydia and Pedro Ruperto Ruiz of Florida; one brother and sister-in-law, Jose and Carmen Diaz Ramos of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her three brothers. Family and friends are invited to visitation Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion. Consuelo's funeral service will be held Saturday at noon at the funeral home following visitation with Father John Yanas officiating.
