Obituary of Janet Cattat

Janet Cattat, 72, of Fourth Ave., a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family, on November 18, 2006, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford. Janet was born in the Cattat family homestead in Frankfort on September 2, 1934, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Sechal) Cattat. She was a graduate of Frankfort-Schuyler Central School and was last employed as Senior Custodian at the Reese Road School in Frankfort, retiring after 21 years of dedicated service to the school system. Prior to that, she worked for 19 years at UNIVAC in Utica. Janet was of the catholic faith and was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort. She always remained very active in her community, currently serving as President of the St. Francis Society Auxiliary, was a member of the Columbiana Society, was past president of the local chapter of C.S.E.A., a union steward at UNIVAC and was a member of the Frankfort V.F.W. Auxiliary #502. In her spare time, Janet enjoyed playing bingo, and trips to the casino. A truly loving and lovable woman, Janet welcomed people into her life. She extended her affectionate spirit, her concerned attitude and her generous nature to her family members and also to her many friends who were touched by her caring, her compassion, and her warmth. Her sister, nieces, nephews, and friends were the light of her life. A part of her will live forever with her family and friends. She leaves her loving and close family: a sister, Charlotte Durse of Frankfort; nieces: Linda and husband Frank Kopczenski of Cassville, and Debbie Durse and Pat Farley of Frankfort; nephews: George Durse of Ilion, and Charles and wife Tara Durse, also of Ilion. She also leaves behind a very special grand-nephew, Ryan Charles Durse of Ilion. Janet had many special cousins, especially Frances, Jeanette and Ricky Paone, Hank Count, and Lucretia Rich. She also leaves many good friends including: Terry Skramko, Helen Gardner, and Maryann Castellano and also her Fourth Avenue neighbors, who were so very supportive to her. Janet was predeceased by her parents and by her brother George "Totter" Cattat who passed away on June 24, 1992. Her family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Father John Yanas for his spiritual guidance throughout this difficult time and for his special visits to Janet at St. Luke's Healthcare, the Masonic Home and also her home in Frankfort. Thank you to Sister Magdeline of the Holy Trinity Church, Dr. Kachari and the staff on the 4th floor of Faxton-St. Lukes's Healthcare, especially Hope and Norma; and also to the staff at Masonic Home's, Albany Wing, especially Tammy for their concern. A special thank you to the Lennox Brothers of Ilion for their compassion offered. The family will be present to receive relatives and friends at the ENEA FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Main Street between Frankfort and Ilion, (894-8000) on Sunday, (today) November 19, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. Janet's funeral will commence at 9 AM on Monday, Nov. 20, 2006 from the funeral home where prayer will offered and her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Pastor John Yanas, Jr, at 9:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort, on Monday. Committal service will follow at All Souls' Chapel, Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. Kindly consider memorial offerings to Hospice Care Inc., envelopes are available at the funeral home. Members of the St. Francis Society Auxiliary will conduct their service at 7 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home on Sunday evening.
