Obituary of Leslie Cool

Mr. Leslie D. "Les" Cool, Sr., 70, of W. Main St., Mohawk, beloved 49-year husband of Marie (Trimboli) Cool, passed away on Sunday morning, Nov. 19, 2006. Les was stricken in the town of Newport while hunting with close friends. He was born on March 11, 1936, son of the late Rozell and Alta (Scanlon) Cool and was educated in Herkimer schools. On January 26, 1957, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marie Trimboli, in the Frankfort Methodist Church. The couple has maintained a union filled with tremendous love and dedication for the past 49 years. Les was a very involved employee for Herkimer Tool and Machine. Because of his wonderful work ethic, he was a valued machinist for the company. He retired at the age of 67 after 47 years of dedicated service. Always a family-oriented individual, Les was a devoted husband, father and grandfather; in recent years, his grandchildren were the center and heart of his life. Because his greatest happiness was in making others happy, he was always thinking of others and finding ways to help or enhance their lives. As a man who dealt with life in a positive manner, he has provided his family and friends with an inspiring example of inner strength and courage. Les instilled in his family wonderful values throughout his lifetime and always put forth extraordinary effort in everything he did. He was an accomplished woodworker and gave generously of his creations to family and friends. Les had a special love for the outdoors, always enjoying hunting and fishing. He was active in the Kuyahoora Valley Rangers, a black powder club, serving as vice president for eight years and developing a youth program. Les also participated in Revolutionary war reenactments, which had become one of his passions, serving with the Tyron County Brigade of Minutemen, Campbells Coy Reinactment Group. Survivors include his beloved family; his wife: Marie at home; four children: Leslie D. Cool, Jr., and wife Carol of Bear, Delaware, Toni Cool of Oriskany, Patricia Costello of Romulus, and Joseph Cool and wife Marie of St. Michaels, Minnesota; six grandchildren: Brandon and Nathan Cool, Katie and Emma Costello, Beth Ann Brinck, and Joy Trout and husband Rodney; in-laws: Anthony Trimboli and wife Anita of New Hartford; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers: Rozell Cool and William Cool and by a sister: Elaine Culver. The family is deeply grateful to all the professionals who treated Les with dignity and respect on Sunday morning including: Investigator Mike Dolly and Trooper Elon Humphrey of the New York State Police (Troop D), Newport Rescue Squad and volunteer personnel, Kuyahoora Ambulance EMTs, and John Day of the Herkimer County Coroners Office. Also, a heartfelt thank-you to Ken and Maxine Schultz and their family for being true friends to the end. Visitation at the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, will be held on Tuesday, (today) Nov. 21, 2006, from 5 to 8 p.m. His funeral will commence at 11 a.m. in the funeral home on Wednesday morning, Nov. 22, with his son, Leslie D.
