Obituary of Edward Cotter

Edward J. Cotter, 59 of Little Falls, passed away on Friday January 20, 2006 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born November 16, 1946 in Little Falls the son of the late J. Robert & Helen McDonnell Cotter, and was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, class of 1964. Ed furthered his education at Fulton - Montgomery Community College, graduating in 1966 with an A.A. degree in Liberal Arts, and graduated from the Officer's Candidate School, in Fort Benning, Georgia in 1968. Mr. Cotter was an Army veteran, enlisting on February 12, 1968 and was honorably discharged on February 11, 1971with the rank of Captain. Ed served time in Korea as combat patrol leader, supervised the training of 400- 500 recruits at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was responsible for the evaluation of Cadre Personnel, maintained all supply and unit fund records. Ed was last employed as a Test Technician for Par Technology in New Hartford. At one time he was a Mechanical Electrical Technician for the former MDS in Herkimer, office manager for the D.W. Winkelman Construction Co. in Syracuse, and in-plant supervisor for the former Allegro Shoe Co. in Little Falls. Mr. Cotter was a member of the Holy Family Parish and was an active member of the Little Falls American Legion, Post # 31, and the Little Falls Polish Community Home. Survivors include his three sisters, Noreen Zysk and her husband Stanley of Little Falls, Elizabeth Pritchard and her husband Rod of Little Falls, and Cathy Carpineti and her husband David of Little Falls, a sister-in-law, Ann Cotter of Little Falls, and an uncle, Thomas Burns of Burlington, Vermont, his nieces & nephews, James, Andrew, & Sharon, and Walter Zysk, Shauna, Laura, and Ellen Cone, Bill, and Nora Carpineti, and Kaitlin & Justin Doxstader, great niece & great nephews; Kaylan & Anthony Zysk, & Chase Edward Doxstader, and several cousins, including the Burns Family of Vermont and the Long Family of Little Falls. He was pre-deceased by his twin brother, James M. Cotter on September 30, 2002. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 24, 2006 at 10:15 am from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, and at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Anthony Ligato, pastor. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer with full military honors. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home, on Monday January 23, 2006 from 5-8 pm. All memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Parish or the Little Falls Community Outreach. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
