Obituary of Thomas Crouch
Mr. Thomas V. Crouch, age 66, of Mohawk, passed away on Sunday October 8, 2006 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, following a brief illness. He was born on July 28, 1940 in Herkimer , a son of Vernon E. and Jane (Nelson) Crouch. He attended Herkimer High School and was a lifelong resident of this area. On September 15, 1967, he joined in marriage with eleanor S. Woods in Mohawk, a loving union of nearly forty years. He retired in February 2005 from Remington Arms in Ilion where he had worked as a polisher. He began working there in June of 1968. He was also employed by Quayle Oil Company for over twenty years. Tom was a member of the Remington Arms Fire Brigade, and a past member of the Ilion Moose Lodge #1010 along with the Legion of the Moose. For over forty years he was active with the Herkimer County Fair Association where he was past president. Tom was a proud supporter of the Mohawk Band Boosters and was an avid hat collector and enjoyed Department 56 Christmas Collectibles. He is survived by his loving family including his beloved wife Eleanor; his mother Jane of Mohawk; his daughters Debbie Hudson and fiancee Mike Beyer of Amsterdam, Beth Ann Crouch of Falmouth MA, Bonnie Bryant and husband Ralph of Durham NH, and Christine Crouch and Bill Boyd of Paducah Kentucky; a sister Beverly Rockwell and husband David of Mohawk; brothers: Jerry Crouch and wife Janet of Mohawk, David Crouch and wife Terri of Mohawk, and James Crouch and wife Laurie of Ilion; grandchildren Carrie Lynn Hudson and Bruce Hudson Jr.; six nieces; four nephews; his mother in law Christine Woods of Mohawk; a brother in law Steven Woods and wife Sharyn of Newport; an aunt and uncle Thomas and Gladys Nelson of Stewarts Landing and mans best friend, his canine companion Boomer. Tom was preceded in death by his father Vernon and his father in law Peter Woods. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 11, 2006 at 10:00 AM from the chapel of the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street between Ilion and Frankfort. Procession will follow to the Mohawk Cemetery (Vickerman Hill), where interment will take place. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home on Tuesday October 10th from 5-8 PM. Those wishing are asked to consider donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society.
