Obituary of Leslie Davis

Mr. Leslie C. Davis, 71, of Warren Road, Mohawk, entered into eternal rest on Sat. morning, Dec. 2, 2006, in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. He was born on September 29, 1935, in Salisbury son of the late George and Evelyn ( Madison) Davis and received his education in Dolgeville Central Schools. His marriage to the former Doris Lane took place on June 13, 1959 in the Dolgeville United Methodist Church. Together they enjoyed a blessed and loving union of over 47 years. At one time Les was employed at the Bendix Corporation of Utica for 13 years and was a longtime "tree man" until illness forced him to retire. Leslie was a true family man, who always put the comfort and happiness of his family first. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his cherished grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife: Doris at home; four children: Milton Davis and wife Barb of Ilion, Daniel Davis and wife Ellen of Ilion, Lorie Rando and husband James of Mohawk and Scott Davis and his companion Linda Burton of Dolgeville; a brother: Fred Davis of Ilion; a sister: Lois Trumbull of Indiana; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his mother in law: Charlotte Lane of Caroga Lake; sisters in law: Dorothy Bradshaw and husband "Junior" of Lassellsville, Barbara Cataratus and husband John of Johnstown, and a brother in law: John Lane of Caroga Lake. Les was predeceased by his father in law: Milton Lane, by a brother Bob Davis and by a very special friend and neighbor Bill Wren. His funeral will commence at 12 noon on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006 from the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer with the Rev. Thomas Trees, rector of the St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, Ilion, officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m until 12 p.m., prior to the service. A very special thank you is extended to all of Leslie's neighbors and friends for their kind acts of sympathy extended throughout his illness and during this difficult time. The family invites relatives and friends to join them for fellowship at Les's daughter's home at 7 N.
