Obituary of Mary DeLucco

Mary Angelina (Lee) DeLucco, 89, a long time Dolgeville resident, passed away on Thanksgiving Day November 23, 2006 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer. Lee was eleven days away from her 90th birthday, as she was born December 4, 1916 in Dolgeville. She was the daughter of the late Domenico & Maria (Colotta) DeLucco, and lived most of her life at the family home on Schuyler Street. Lee was a graduate of Dolgeville High School, Class of 1934, and attended beautician training in Utica. Lee was a licensed beautician for 25 years, working out of her home. She worked for her brothers at the Dolgeville News Company for 35 years, retiring at the age of 70, in 1986. She was responsible for developing the line of Hallmark products there. Miss DeLucco was a life-long member and communicant of St. Joseph?s Roman Catholic Church in Dolgeville. Lee enjoyed baking for her relatives and friends. She was well known for her sausage and Swiss chard pies, anise cookies, and pumpkin bread. When she was younger, she enjoyed crocheting afghans, riding her bicycle and walking. She also took much pride in babysitting for several families in Dolgeville. She is survived by her loving brother, Frederick DeLucco of Dolgeville, her nieces and god-daughter, Donna DeLucco; a nephew, Fred DeLucco both of Dolgeville; a niece, Christine ?Dodie? Volo of Little Falls, a great niece, Natasha DeLucco-Campione; along with other nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family was fortunate to have Aunt Lee, as she was very caring, loving and generous person to them. She would try to help her parents, siblings and their children in any way she could. She was pre-deceased by eight brothers & sisters, a special great nephew, Jamie DeLucco-Campione and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville, NY. All memorial contributions in Lee?s name may be made to Country Manor, 4338 State Route 28, Herkimer, NY 13350; or to the Valley Health Services, 690 W. German St., Herkimer, NY 13350. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff of the Country Manor and Valley Health Services for the excellent care and love shown to Lee during her stay.
