Obituary of Vincent DeLuis

Vincent Dominic DeLuis, 81, of 35 Summit Ave., Little Falls, passed away on Tuesday June 20, 2006 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born August 4, 1924 in Little Falls the son of the late Guiseppi & Reparata (Ciero) DeLuisi, and was educated in Little Falls. His marriage to Gladys Provinski took place on June 28, 1947 at Sacred Heart Church, Little Falls, by Father Batkiewicz. Mr. DeLuis was a World War II Army veteran, enlisting in 1943, and was honorably discharged in 1945. He served in CBI China - Burma - India Theatre. While serving his country, he received the following medals: Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Service Star, and the Honorable Service Lapel Button. He worked at the Univac in Utica & Ilion for many years, Snyder?s, and National Fibers and was last employed at Vincent Mfg. Co. in Little Falls. Mr. DeLuis was of the Catholic faith. A humble man with a great sense of humor, Vincent?s real joy came from adoring his family. He will be dearly missed by his family especially his loving grandchildren. He was proud of his Italian Heritage. Vincent was a lover of music and an accomplished musician, whose favorite singer was Al Jolsen. Jim was a real handyman being able to repair many things including cars, antiques and musical instruments. He also enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gladys, 3 daughters, Loretta Welyczko of Ilion, Nancy Riesel of Herkimer, & Mary Lou DeLuis Reid of Saranac Lake, a sister, Jennie Pescatore & husband Alfred of Little Falls, 4 grandchildren, Justin Welyczko and wife Andrea of Little Falls, Gregory Welyczko of Ilion, Rosalie Reid and Teresa Reid both of Saranac Lake, and many nieces & nephews. He is also survived by many loyal family pets. He was pre-deceased by a sister Nancy Campione. Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 22, 2006 at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish, corner of Main & John Streets, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Anthony Ligato, pastor. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. In keeping with Vincent?s wishes there are no Calling Hours. Arrangements are by the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 w. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to St. Jude?s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105-1942 or to the Herkimer Humane Society, Fort Herkimer, NY.
