Obituary of Louise Dempsey

Louise M. (Carver) Dempsey, 88, currently of Riverside, Calif., formerly of Ilion and New Port Richey, Fla., passed away Monday afternoon, April 17, 2006 , in Riverside, Calif., with her daughter, Mary Lynn, by her side. Louise was born Nov. 25, 1917 , in Ilion, daughter of the late Clair Lynn and Blanche (Naylor) Carver. She attended Ilion schools. On March 28, 1945 , she was united in marriage to Forrest E. Dempsey in Ilion. They shared a blessed union of 53 years until Mr. Dempsey's passing Dec. 18, 1997. Louise was last employed by Sears and Roebuck Co. in Middletown, N.J., and Miami, Fla., retiring in 1983 after 15 years of service. Louise was a devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lynn and David West of Perris, Calif., and Diana Louise and Walter Lynch of Cuppertino, Calif.; five cherished grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; her cousins, Fred Jacox and Elizabeth Jacox, both of Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was predeceased by her brother, Ward Carver, in 1968. A graveside committal service will be held on Monday, May 22, commencing at 1 p.m. at the Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion, with the Rev. Victor McKusick, pastor of the Ilion First Presbyterian Church, officiating. There will be no public calling hours. Those wishing to do so may consider memorial donations in Louise's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Donation envelopes are available at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion. All arrangements have been entrusted to Applegate and Day, Ilion.
