Obituary of Marie DiGiacomo

Mrs. Marie C. (Croce) DiGiacomo, 90, of Columbia St., Mohawk, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 30, 2006 in Albany Medical Center. At the time of her passing she had the love and comfort of her family at her bedside. She was born on March 31, 1915, in the Provinca of Caserta, Italy, daughter of the late Antonio and Rosalie (Ginocchi) Croce and attended schools locally. She resided in St. Johnsville and Gloversville at one time but spent the majority of her life in Mohawk. In 1944, she was joined in marriage with Peter V. DiGiacomo in New Jersey. He passed away in 1982. Marie was last employed with Duofold in Mohawk where she was a machine operator and retired in 1977 after 14 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk and the church rosary society. Marie also belonged to the Village of Mohawk Senior Citizens. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Marie centered her life around her family. She considered it important to maintain and hand down to her family the customs and traditions of her heritage and her homeland. She will be deeply missed and has left her loved ones with many memorable moments. Survivors include her beloved family: her son: Peter J. DiGiacomo of Mohawk; a sister: Christina Smith of St. Johnsville; two grandchildren: Aubrie DiGiacomo and Trisha DiGiacomo both of Albany; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother in law: Harold Ten Eyck of Mohawk; a sister: Grace Ten Eyck and by a brother: Gennaro "Gerry" Croce. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, on Sunday, April 2, 2006 from 5-8 p.m. Mrs. DiGiacomo's funeral will commence at 10:15 on Monday morning, April 2, from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am from Blessed Sacrament Church, East Main Street, Mohawk, which will be celebrated by Father Mark Cunningham, sacramental minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. She will be laid to rest this spring in St. Johnsville Cemetery. Kindly consider memorial offerings to MOVAC, Blessed Sacrament Church, or to a charity of your choice. Members of the Village of Mohawk Senior Citizens will gather at the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. to conduct their service.
