Obituary of Thomas Dixon

Thomas E. Dixon, Sr., 83 of 139 Cemetery St., Frankfort, passed away on Saturday October 14, 2006 at St. Luke?s Hospital, New Hartford. He was born August 21, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late John & Mary (Harrington) Dixon and was educated in Queens, NY. His marriage to Rosa E. Koch took place on June 8, 1946 at St. Pascal Baylon Catholic Church in St. Albans, NY. Mr. Dixon was a World War II Army veteran, enlisting on July 21, 1942 and was honorably discharged on October 2, 1945 with the rank of Technician Fourth Grade. While serving his country, he received the following medals, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. For 34 years until his retirement in 1981, Tom was a lieutenant for the Long Island State Parkway Police. Mr. Dixon was of the catholic faith. Tom was a member of the Frankfort American Legion Post # 845 and the Ilion - Frankfort VFW Post # 502. With family as his foremost priority, Tom proved himself a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Rosa, a son, Thomas E. Dixon, Jr., and wife Irene of Coram, NY a daughter, Elizabeth Skrocki and husband James of Utica, 4 grandchildren, Maureen Dixon, Suzanne Kennedy, Tracy Cozzolino, and David Mackey, 2 great grandchildren, Joseph & Meghan Kennedy, 3 in-laws, Marilyn Koch of Louisiana, Alta Koch of New Hampshire, And Gertrude Dixon of Floral Park, NY, and many nieces & nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother, John Dixon. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main St., (between Frankfort ? Ilion). All memorial contributions may be made to the Faxton ? St. Luke?s Hospital Van Program.
