Obituary of Paul Galletta

Paul F. Galletta, Sr., 80 of 27 Averill St., St. Johnsville, passed away on Friday March 3, 2006 at St. Mary?s Hospital, Amsterdam, NY. He was born September 27, 1925 in Richmond County, NY the son of the late Anthony & Francesca (Farina) Galletta and was educated in New York City schools. He was married to the former Cynthia B. Davison. The couple shared a blessed union of over 50 years until the passing of Mrs. Galletta on September 19, 2003. Mr. Galletta was a World War II Navy veteran enlisting on August 2, 1943 and was honorably discharged on March 18, 1946 with the rank of Seaman First Class. Paul was a general foreman for the Department of Parks & Recreation in New York City. Mr. Galletta was a member of St. Patrick?s Church in St. Johnsville and was a member of the Veteran?s PCA. With family as his foremost priority, Paul proved himself a loving and caring father, grandfather and great grandfather. Along with his family Paul had a special place in his heart for his canine companion Chiquita. Survivors include his children, Jill S. Galletta of Boynton Beach, Florida, Jacqueline Grassel and her husband Stanley of Nelliston, Joycelyn Galletta of Clearwater, Florida, Jeffrey D. Galletta of Staten Island, Paul F. Galletta, Jr. of Staten Island, twin daughters, Janella G. Nugent and her husband Walter of St. Johnsville, and Jewel F. Anderson of Hope, Iowa, Judd S. Galletta and his wife Judy of Staten Island, and Jay B. Galletta of St. Johnsville, in addition a ward, Joshua R. Galletta of St. Johnsville, 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Elvera Jule and her husband Dominick of Morriston, Florida, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by two daughters, Francesca Galletta in 1960 and Jennifer F. Galletta in 1986, and a brother Frank Galletta. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 7, 2006 at 9:15 am from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, and at 10:00 am from St. Patrick?s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Spring interment will be in West St. Johnsville Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Monday March 6, 2006 from 5-8 pm.
