Mrs. Ersilia P. "Ceil" (Reale) Gardinier, 80, of 590 Paradise Road, Little Falls, (town of Danube), passed away on Tuesday morning, December 5, 2006, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica, following a brief illness. Ceil was born on April 14, 1926 in Utica, daughter of the late John and Marie Louise (Maggiline) Reale. She received her education in Utica schools. On May 19, 1951, she was united in marriage with Richard W. Gardinier by Father Loftus at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Utica. The couple enjoyed a blessed union of 49 years, until Richard's passing on September 20, 1999. Mrs. Gardinier spent many years assisting her husband with "Gardinier Homestead Farm" on Paradise Road, Little Falls and was also employed for many years with the former Salada Tea Company. She was of the Catholic faith and was a communicant of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls. Ceil was an active member of the AARP. The greatest privilege and joy she ever received in her life was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She will be lovingly and eternally remembered by her loved ones for the wisdom of her advice, and the security of her constant devotion. They will forever cherish the appreciation, acceptance, and understanding which she always offered to everyone. Ceil always enjoyed entertaining family and friends, always putting the needs of others before her own. In her spare time, she loved to garden, sew and cook. She is survived by her beloved family; her sons: Richard Gardinier Jr. and wife Pamela, Kenneth Gardinier and wife Cynthia and Douglas Gardinier all of Little Falls; her grandchildren: Jessica and husband Ian Muller, Kathryn and husband Denny Davis, John and wife Tracy Gardinier, and Thomas Gardinier and Alaina Gardinier; great grandchildren: Shelby Muller, Kierra Davis, and Emily Davis; four sisters: Catherine Giannico of Yorkville, Angeline Marfone of Utica, Isabelle Torraco of Yorkville, and Annette Sullivan of New Mexico; two brothers: Mike Reale and wife Sarah, and Nicholas Reale and wife Ruth, all of Utica; in-laws: John Gardinier and wife Louise of East Herkimer, Robert "Burrell" Gardinier and wife Donna, Elizabeth Rich, Alice Hysack and her husband Joseph, all of Little Falls; also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ceil was pre-deceased by her beloved son, John Gardinier in 1976, by a brother: Ignazio Reale and by in laws: Raymond and Margaret Korce. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls on Friday, Dec. 8, 2006 from 5-8 p.m. Mrs. Gardinier's funeral will commence at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2006 from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Streets, Little Falls, with the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor, officiating. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest in the family plot.
