Obituary of Edward Howard

Mr. Edward William Howard 79 of 16 East Timmerman Street Dolgeville, died Wednesday May 31, 2006 in Little Falls Hospital. He was born in Dolgeville on January 18, 1927 the son of the late Edward F. and Edithe (Warner) Howard and was a graduate of Dolgeville High School. A Veteran of the United States Navy Ed served honorably with two periods of service. First from January 1945 until he was discharged in July of 1946 with the rank of Pharmacist?s Mate Third Class having received the World war II Victory Medal, American Area Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Area Medal. He re-entered the service in June of 1951 and served honorably until October of 1952 with the rank of HM3. Ed was employed by the Remington Arms Company of Ilion for 33 years retiring from there in 1985. After his retirement, he volunteered at the Little Falls Hospital for many years. His marriage to the former Cornelia ?Connie? Ives took place on September 17, 1949. They would have celebrated 57 years of marriage this September. Ed and his wife Connie spent the winters in Palm Bay, Florida. His personal enjoyments were in golfing, where he was a member of the Golf Club of Newport, and a member of many bowling leagues in the area. He was a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a former member of the Salisbury Fire Department. He is survived by his wife Cornelia, a Son and his wife Edward C. and Lisa Howard of Fonda, a Brother Wallace Howard and his friend Carolyn of Yorkville, a Grandson Kyle Howard of Johnstown, a Sister in law Helen Ives of Salisbury, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Private graveside service will be held Saturday at the convenience of the family in the Salisbury Rural Cemetery. Calling hours are on Friday from 4-7 PM at the Roberts and Enea Family Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville.
