Obituary of Thomas Hyland

Thomas J. Hyland, 59, of London Towers, 100 W. Main St., Ilion, formerly of Los Angeles, Calif., and Hillside, N.J., died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at the V.A. Medical Center, Syracuse. He was born Dec. 25, 1946 , in Newark, N.J., the son of Dennis and Arabell (Boob) Hyland and graduated from Hillside High School in Hillside, N.J. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Navy on the carrier Constellation. For many years, Tom was employed as a stock technician at Warner Brothers Studios in Hollywood, Calif. Most recently he worked for D&K stores in Union, N.J. At one time Tom was a health care provider for many people in the Los Angeles, Calif., area. He attended the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion, and had many friends at London Towers. Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Dennis III and Margaret ?Peg? Hyland of Mohawk, sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Hyland of Fanwood, N.J.; two nieces, Mary Beth Hyland and Ann Hyland and two nephews, Patrick Hyland and Dennis Hyland Quinn. He was predeceased by his brother, Samuel J. Hyland, and his parents. Friends and relatives are invited to services on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, West Street, Ilion, where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Alfred A. Lamanna. Interment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Saratoga Springs, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in Mr. Hyland's memory. All arrangements are entrusted to Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion.
