Obituary of Inez Jones

Inez I. Jones, 87 a long time Dolgeville resident, passed away on January 21, 2006 at Little Falls Hospital, with her family by her side. Inez was born January 21, 1919 in Dolgeville the daughter of the late Alonzo and Jennie (Parks) Bettinger, and was educated in the Dolgeville school system. She married Jesse Jones on June 17, 1938 and became the mother of three sons. Inez enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, having lived in the family home she was born in and after marrying, she and her husband shared 66 years of marriage there until his passing on July 2, 2003. Raising her family was a priority, which included caring for one son with Polio who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis as a young child. It was through her dedication to him that he not only walked but grew to adulthood before he pre-deceased her in 2001. Inez assisted with the general operation of the family - owned Western Auto Store and later worked as a clerk for several retailers. Inez was active in her church, working for many years on church bazaars, taught Sunday School, and was a member ?in-good standing of the Philathia group at the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Jones spent much of her life being a caregiver for her immediate and extended family and did so without complaint. She herself, spent many years living with health problems and in later years recovered from several major operations and sicknesses. Even though the illnesses disabled her, she never became angry or discouraged. She remained positive enduring several stays in hospitals, rehabilitation centers and nursing homes, setting goals for her recovery. She re-trained herself, learning what she needed to do to return home and live as independently as she could. She was assisted at home by several helpers, Karen Kelleher, Beverly Dager, Kim Kilmartin, Katrina Jones and a special friend Dawn Santmyer. She was frequently encouraged by her own special cheerleader, Alexis Jones. Inez was an example of triumphing tribulations to many she came to know during her illnesses. Survivors include her sons, David A. Jones and his wife Roxanne of East Herkimer, & Richard A. Jones and his wife Michelle of Dolgeville, a daughter-in-law, Betsy Jones of Dolgeville, her grandchildren, Janis Flansburg, Jeff, Jesse, Justin, Greg, And Robert Jones, and Kim Kilmartin and Heidi Parisi, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her son Daniel J. Jones and a sister Delsa Warner. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 24, 2006 at 7: 00 pm from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W.
