Obituary of Alice Jordan

Alice (Wysocki) Jordan, age 82, of Abington, MA, formerly of 137 E. North St., Ilion, died Thursday, June 29, 2006. She was born on July 18, 1923, the daughter of Saveryn "Sam" and Veronica (Dombrowski) Wysocki and graduated from Massachusetts Memorial Nursing Hospital, Boston, MA. She was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army as a nurse. She was the recipient of the WWII Victory Medal. On July 20, 1949, she was married to Donald P. Jordan in PA. He died on February 7, 1979. Alice was employed as a nurse at Remington Arms Co., Ilion, for 25 years. She was a member of St. Bridget's Church, Abington, MA, and a former member of the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion. Alice was a member of the DAV Auxiliary of New York, Abington American Legion Post, and the Abington Senior Citizens Assoc. She enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and the Patriots. In the past, Alice made sundaes and banana splits for her late husband's little league teams. Survivors include her sister, Patricia Wysocki of Abington, MA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, parents; her sisters-in-law, Geraldine Jordan, Helen Connors, Florence Murphy, and Shirley Compeau; and her brothers-in-law, Eugene and Maxine Jordan. Funeral services will be held 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, and 2 p.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Anthony Barratt, Pastor. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, N. Ilion. Calling hours are Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Abington Senior Center Building Fund, 500 Gliniewicz Way, Abington, MA 02351.
