Mrs. Barbara B. Kany 86 of 13 Cline Street Dolgeville, died Thursday evening July 6, 2006 in Bassett Hospital Cooperstown after a brief illness. She was born in St. Johnsville on December 9, 1919 the daughter of Anthony and Hazel (Bulger) Beekman and was a graduate of St. Johnsville schools. She continued her education by attending St. Elizabeth?s Nursing School in Utica. Mrs. Kany was a retired registered nurse at Little Falls Hospital where she was employed for many years. She was married to William Markell of Dolgeville, and then to Stanley B. Kany who predeceased her on October 25, 1956. She was a member of the ?Blue Birds? of Dolgeville and personally enjoyed entertaining her family and friends with her cooking. She was an avid New York Mets fan and a QVC shopper. Surviving her are her Grandchildren Nancy and her husband Joseph Calleja of Cooperstown, Peter W. and his wife Kelly Markell of North Carolina, her Great Grandchildren Ryan Markell, Stacy Gallimore, Sharon Markell, Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by a son Peter B. Markell on September 24, 2003, a Brother James Beekman, A Sister Mary Lou Mangles and a Grandson Lee Markwell. Additionally she leaves her son?s companion Evelyn Butler of Dolgeville, her many friends and neighbors among them are Tess Johnson, Millie Walrath, Linda and Joe Parisella, Geri Smith and Ellen and Richard Lewandowski. Funeral services will be held Monday evening July 10, 2006 at 6PM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Pastor Gertrude Ortlieb will offer prayer. Private Burial will be in the Dolgeville Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 4-6 PM.
