Obituary of Grace Laura
Mrs. Grace Laura, 98, former Ilion resident and for the past five years, a Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2006 at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. She was born on September 29, 1907 in Frankfort, NY, a daughter of the late Emanuele and Antonia (Pepitone) Sciortino. She was educated in Frankfort schools. In 1929, Grace was united in marriage to Joseph Laura in Brooklyn, NY, a loving union of 50 years. Mr. Laura passed away on February 4, 1979. Mrs. Laura was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort. At one time, she was employed by Little Falls Felt Shoe. She is survived by her beloved family including a son Anthony J. Laura and his wife Charlotte of Frankfort; a daughter, Nina Rumrill of Frankfort; a daughter-in-law, Prudy Laura of Frankfort; seven grandchildren, Keith Laura of Frankfort, Timothy Laura of Frankfort, Garry J. Rumrill and his wife Karen of Frankfort, Joanne Morse and her husband Kenneth of New Hartford, Joseph Laura and his wife Stacie of Chester, NY, Michael Altamuro and his wife Diane of Mahwah, NJ, and Paul Altamuro of Key West, FL; eight great-grandchildren, Jillian and Garry Rumrill, Andrew and Greg Morse, A.J. and Jacob Laura, and Michael and Danielle Altamuro; a very special niece, Nellie Bono of Frankfort; and several nieces, nephews, cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Emanuele "Manny" Laura, a son-in-law, William E. Rumrill, and a granddaughter, Jamie (Laura) Carter and a sister Mary S. Bono. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at the Enea Family Funeral Home, between Frankfort and Ilion, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will commence on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at 9:45 a.m. from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in the spring. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home and Dr. Brown, Dr. Tsibina, and Dr. Vadlamudi for their care for Grace during her stay at the home.
