Obituary of David Lohnas

Mr. David W. Lohnas, 58, of Warren Rd., (town of German Flatts), passed away early Sunday morning, September 17, 2006, in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica with the love, support and comfort of his family at his side. He was born on October 14, 1947, in Utica and was currently employed with Remington Arms, Ilion, as a gun assembler. Dave dedicated his life to being a major part in the lives of his children. He was a dedicated father remaining active in every activity they took part in especially mentioning the Mohawk Football Boosters. His family came first and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and loved being outdoors. There were many cherished memories that took place at the family camp in the Adirondacks. Dave was a "true blue" New York Giants fan. He was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include his children: Daniel J. Lohnas of Ilion and Samuel D. Lohnas of Mohawk, a daughter: Elizabeth Ann Lohnas Sawyer of Florida; a grandson: Gavyn Sawyer; David's fiancee: Kathleen A. Harris and family; his sisters and brothers: Shirley (Dye) and Pete Hammond of Madison, Wi., Barbara (Dye) and John Mansfield of Lacey, Wa., Clara (Dye) and Tom Pritchard of Troy, Nancy (Dye) Cooper of Unadilla Forks, Russell and Jane Dye of Holden, Ma., and Lynn Read Lohnas of Utica; his step mother: Clara Roberts Dye of West Winfield; his extended family including: Vicki, David , Geoffrey and Karl. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents: E. John and Rena Dye and Elizabeth Rowland Lohnas Smith and also by Michael Perkins. The family will be present in the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., (Main Street between Ilion and Frankfort) to receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006 from 5-8 p.m. His funeral will commence at 2 p.m. on Thurs., Sept. 21 from the chapel of the Enea Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Art Miner, officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the Mohawk Football Boosters. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
