Obituary of Claude Marineau

Claude E. Marineau, 83, of 13 S. Washington St., Mohawk, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 17, 2006, at Little Falls Hospital. He was born on Nov. 25, 1922, in Canada, the son of Aime and Flora (Lafontaine) Marineau and graduated from Mohawk High School. Claude was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. In 1946, he was married to Jeanne Stack in Little Falls. She died on March 2, 1994. Claude supplied and maintained vending machines for the Servend Co. and Canteen Co. for over 40 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Crowley-Barnum American Legion Post No. 25 and was a past president and member of the Mohawk Kiwanis Club. Claude was an avid New York Yankees Fan and enjoyed golfing and bowling. Survivors include his daughter, Claudette Johnson of Prospect, N.Y.; his son, Marty Marineau and girlfriend Jill Foley of Mohawk; five grandchildren, Christa and Bryan Johnson, Melissa, Lindsay and Ashley Marineau; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, parents and sister, Mariette Anthony. Funeral services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home. 48 E. Main St., Mohawk, and 11 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Mark Cunningham, sacramental minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, parish life director. Interment will be in Mohawk Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, June 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The Mohawk American Legion service will be at 6 p.m., Tuesday.
