Josephine M. (Marquissee) Maxwell, 89, beloved wife of the late Donald Maxwell, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2006. She was born on August 19, 1917, at home in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Jessie (Wood) and William Marquissee. She grew up and was educated in Herkimer, graduating in 1938, and worked for over 20 years in local grocery stores. On September 10, 1949, she married Donald Maxwell and they made their home in Newport, N.Y., where they were both communicants of St. John's Church. Mr. Maxwell passed away in 1986. Josephine was a member of Home Bureau, loved dress making, entertaining and baking for friends and relatives. She is survived by her sister AnnaBelle Marquissee of Herkimer, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, friends and a sister ?in-law, Selma Marquissee of New York. Josephine has touched all of their lives with her loving and generous nature; she will be missed by all. A special thanks and acknowledgment to Josie Coleman for her tireless and dedicated efforts as Josephine's caregiver. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Howard, Gordon, William and half-brother Lester Marquissee. The funeral services will be held at the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, N.Y. on Saturday November 25, 2006 at 3:00 pm. Visitation for friends and relatives will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the services. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family at Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. All memorial contributions may be made to St. John?s Catholic Church, Newport, NY.
