Obituary of Margaret Morra

Miss Margaret Morra, 88, of Rockton Plaza Apts., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, May 30, 2006 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. She was born in Monteleone di Puglia, Provincia di Foggia, (Apulia Region), Italy, on November 1, 1917, daughter of the late Pietro and Carmela (Scarano) Morra and was educated in Italian schools. She came to America in 1955. In her professional life she was employed as a dressmaker for several local dress factories including P & K Dress Shop and the Allegro Shoe Company. Deeply devoted to religion, she was a communicant of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls and was a member of the Holy Family Parish Rosary Society. Margaret was very artistic and enjoyed crocheting and also making ornaments for St. Mary's Church to sell. She was a devoted aunt and loyal friend, one who graciously shared her helpful ways, her generous nature and her loving heart with her family and friends. Margaret's good judgment and life experiences guided her loved ones and instilled in them the Italian traditions that she herself was brought up on. Survivors include one sister: Giovanna Volpe and husband Pasquale and family of Italy; nieces: Carmela and Ralph DiGiorgio of Schenectady, Rocchina and Marco Rinaldi of Italy, Phyllis and Louis Benvenuto of Poughquag, Rita and Alfred Pazereckis of Hopewell Junction; nephews: Carmelo Preziosi and wife Theresa of Mahopac and Antonio Volpe and wife Donata of Italy; several great nieces and nephews. All of Margaret's nieces and nephews were treated like her own children. She was predeceased by eight sisters and by one brother. Miss Morra's funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Thursday, June 1, 2006 from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls where prayer will be offered thence to Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Streets, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor. Funeral procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home from 9:00 until 10:00 am on Thursday morning before the funeral service.
