Obituary of Etta Mroz

Mrs. Etta M. (Hall) Mroz, 85, a longtime Ilion resident, passed away on Friday afternoon, November 3, 2006 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. Etta was born on February 12, 1921 in Frankfort, daughter of the late Arthur and Florence (Emrich) Hall and was educated in local schools. A lifelong area resident, she was joined in marriage with Benjamin A. Mroz on August 19, 1939 in Annunciation Church, Ilion. The couple enjoyed a union of 37-years until the passing of Mr. Mroz on February 15, 1977. Etta was last employed by Mohawk Data Services. She was at one time employed by Sperry Rand and worked part time as a crossing guard and monitor for the Ilion and Mohawk school systems. She retired from Birnie Bus at the age of 81. Etta was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk. Etta was a woman who knew the wisdom of patience and the importance of family values. She often showed affection to her loved ones and also how to offer compassionate understanding. She was deeply sensitive to the needs and feelings of her family members, and she was always able to make them feel truly special. Her family will always admire and remember her steadfast devotion to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include three sons: Ronald Mroz and wife Anna of Whitesboro, William "Bill" Mroz and wife Judy of Mohawk, and Benjamin Mroz and wife Florence of E. Herkimer; a daughter Katherine "Kay" Ciletti and husband Anthony of Mohawk; two brothers: Donald Hall and wife Alice of Ilion and Doug Hall and wife Joan; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters: Arlene Stegich and Betty Burke, by a brother: Arthur Hall, and by her sister in law: Lois Mroz. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, on Monday (today), Nov. 6, 2006 from 5-8 p.m. Mrs. Mroz's funeral will commence at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7, from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 11 a.m. from Blessed Sacrament Church, E. Main St., Mohawk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Funeral procession will follow to Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort where she will be laid to rest. Kindly consider memorial offerings to Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk. A heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of Mohawk Valley Nursing Home in Ilion, especially those on the fourth floor who treated Etta and her family with tender love and care.
