Obituary of Robert Niemeyer

Mr. Robert J. Niemeyer, 79, of Curtiss Rd., Little Falls, (town of Salisbury), passed away on Thursday afternoon, December 7, 2006, in Van Allen's Nursing Home with the comfort of his beloved family at his side. He was born on November 6, 1927 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, son of the late John J. and Sophia T. (Rau) Niemeyer and was educated in Minneapolis schools. When he was 21 years old, while serving for the US Navy in Jacksonville, Florida, he met his bride, Jean Alice Mulchay. Because she was only 17, they had to go across the border to Folkston, Georgia, where 17 was a legal age to wed. They were united in marriage on February 14, 1948. Robert was a man of deep faith, well known for his firm stand regarding his religious convictions. He was an intelligent, hard working man. He learned the trade of tool making while serving in the US Navy, and worked as a precision machinist for 40 years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean of the home address; his children: Jonathan Niemeyer and his fianc? Christine Mantanes and their son Peter; a daughter: Rebecca Paatz and her husband Kitt of Salisbury; three grandchildren: Samantha Bourque, Hannah Bourque, and Kellen Paatz, all of Salisbury; a brother: Ralph Niemeyer and his wife Mary of Olympia, WA; a sister: Hazel Sartori and her husband John of El Rancho, CA; a sister in law: Betty Niemeyer of Provo, Utah; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Donald Niemeyer. A private service will be held for the immediate family.
