Obituary of Ray Nobles

Ray A. Nobles, 62, of 5 Contemporary Drive, Danbury, Conn., died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, while visiting relatives in Mohawk, N.Y. He was born on Oct. 15, 1943, in Billings, Mont., the son of Verle and Nina (Chamberlin) Nobles and graduated from Montana State University. On July 11, 1987, he was married to Barbara (Brown) Baker, formerly of Mohawk, at the King Street United Church of Christ, Danbury, Conn. Ray was employed as an engineering group manager at IBM in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., for 36 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the King Street United Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Crista Woolley and husband Mark of Dover, N.H., Diana Davis and husband Dennis of Camden, N.Y.; three sons, Kyle Nobles and wife Janet of Wilton, Conn., Toby Baker and wife Mary, Matthew Baker and wife Pam, all of Danbury, Conn.; 10 grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Brown of Mohawk, N.Y., Elizabeth ?Bette? Brown, of Ilion, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Terry Nobles, his parents, and two brothers-in-law, Robert Brown and Bill Brown. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at the King Street United Church of Christ, 201 South King St., Danbury, Conn., with Pastor Cindy Maddox officiating. Interment will be held in King Street Church Cemetery. There are no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ray's name to the King Street United Church of Christ, 201 South King St., Danbury, Conn. 06811. Local arrangements are entrusted to Applegate & Day Funeral Homes of Mohawk and Ilion.
