Obituary of Eileen Palmer

Eileen G. Palmer, 89, of Forge Hill Drive, Ilion, formerly of E. River St., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer, with her loving family by her side. She was born on February 2, 1916, in Herkimer, NY, a daughter of the late John and Maude (Farmer) Geraghty. She was educated in Herkimer schools. On June 12, 1937, she was united in marriage to George Palmer at St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer. Mr. Palmer passed away in 1997. Mrs. Palmer was a parishioner of Annunciation Church in Ilion. She was last employed by Duofold in Mohawk. She also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her cherished family. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her loving daughter, Joyce McCarthy of Ilion; a brother, John Geraghty of Rochester; two sisters, Elaine "Peg" Leonard of Ilion and Geraldine Semit and her husband Herbert of Herkimer; two grandchildren, Jon Schuster and his wife Lisa of Floyd, and Ron Schuster of Ilion; one great-grandchild, Brandon Schuster; a close friend, Virginia Bennett; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Terry Palmer in 1987, a brother-in-law, Lynn Leonard, and a son-in-law, Edmund McCarthy in 2005. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, January 27, 2006 at the Enea Family Funeral Home, on Main St., between Frankfort and Ilion, from 5-8 p.m. Mrs. Palmer's funeral will commence on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 8:45 a.m. from the chapel of the funeral home and at 9:30 a.m. at Annunciation Church, on West St., Ilion, with Father Anthony M. Barratt, Pastor officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls, in the spring. Mrs. Palmer's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Valley Health Services, especially the east wing of the second floor, for their compassion and care that was shown to Eileen and her family during her stay. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Valley Health Services in memory of Mrs. Palmer. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
