Obituary of Thomas Parese

Mr. Thomas J. Parese 84 of 16 Wolf Street Dolgeville, died Tuesday February 7, 2006 in Bassett Hospital Cooperstown after a brief illness. Tom was born in Little Falls on May 17, 1921 the son of the late Patsy and Anna (Gallo) Parese and attended Little Falls schools. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Tom served honorably during World War II. He enlisted on September 10, 1942 and was honorably discharged on December 9, 1945 with the rank of Private First Class. He served in Central Europe with Company C 276 Infantry, and was awarded the following service medals; European African Middle Eastern Service medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. His marriage to the former Rose Katherine Ruggiero took place on June 5, 1944 in Hobbs, New Mexico. They were married for 57 years until her death on June 12, 2001. Tom was employed for 35 years at the North Hudson Woodcraft Company of Dolgeville, retiring several years ago. He also enjoyed working on painting projects with his son Gary. His memberships included the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Dolgeville Knights of Columbus. He personally enjoyed target shooting, cards and was an avid Dolgeville football "Blue Devils" Fan.Tom will be remembered as a very personable man and will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his three Children and a son in law: Bonnie and her husband Gary Kirchofer of Dolgeville, Gary T. Parese of Richfield Springs and Laureen Parese of Westmoreland, his 5 grandchildren and their spouses; Jeffrey and Denise Kirchofer of Manheim Germany, Gregg and Julie Kirchofer of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Kristen and Kevin Wieczenski of Gloversville, Errin and Crystal Parese of Kingston, NY, and Kate Rose Parese of Richfield Springs, 11 Great Grandchildren; Jason, Amber & her husband Sean Cormier, Amanda, Jerrad, Joshua, Ariel, Abrianna and James Kirchofer, Evan and Matthew Wieczenski and Ryan Kirchofer, a great great grandson Alexavier Cromier, also his sisters in law Mary Ellen Marwood of Texas and Mary Ruggiero of Little Falls, a brother in law Anthony Ruggiero of Cobleskill and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 4 Brothers and 3 Sisters, a Daughter in law Patricia (Greenlee) Parese, and 4 great Grandchildren Eilizah Wieczenski, and Jacob, Jeremy and Justin Kirchofer. The family extends a very special Thank You to Cheryl Dunn, Julie Lyon and Kevin Cooper for their love, support and comfort during this difficult time. There will be a graveside service with Military Honors in the spring in St. Joseph's Cemetery Dolgeville, with Father Leo F. Potvin offering committal prayers. Family and friends are invited to attend. There are No calling hours. Memorials may be made to the Dolgeville Central School for an award to be given at graduation in memory of Thomas and Rose Parese. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville.
