Obituary of Angelo Pietropaoli

Mr. Angelo "Gino" Pietropaoli, 79, of State Route 5, a lifelong Little Falls resident, died early Saturday morning, Oct. 28, 2006. At the time of his passing which occurred in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica, he had his family at his side. He was born on July 9, 1927 in Little Falls, son of the late Angelo and Lucia (Pistolesi) Pietropaoli. Gino attended local schools and graduated from Little Falls High School in 1944. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1947. On October 11, 1952, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Kohn at St. Mary's Church, Little Falls. Along with his brother-in-law, Ennio Quattrini, he owned and operated G & H Garage for many years. He then operated Independent Appraisal Service, and finally worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1992. He was involved in many local organizations including the DeCarlo Staffo Post #8, Little Falls VFW Post #4612, Little Falls Elk's Lodge #42, and the American Legion Post #31. He also served on the Little Falls Board of Education from 1975-1983 as well as the St. Mary's School Board for many years. Gino was a faithful member of Holy Family Parish in Little Falls, having served as a lector and on numerous committees. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, as well as working in his garden. He was particularly proud of his garlic crop. Gino is survived by his wife of 54 years: Mary, at home; two sons: Angelo Pietropaoli and wife Suzanne of Malone; John Pietropaoli and wife Karen of North Providence, R.I.; two daughters: Lucille Mercer of Phoenix, and Ann Marie Kuehnle and husband William of Little Falls; nine grandchildren: William and his wife Lisa, Amanda and Rebecca Kuehnle, Elizabeth, John, Thomas, Matthew, and Mary Catherine Pietropaoli, and Kathleen Mercer; also, a great-grandson, Nathan Kuehnle; a brother: Frank Pietropaoli and wife Nancy of New Jersey and a sister, Maria Quattrini of Little Falls. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was predeceased by a brother: Ricardo Pietropaoli and by a granddaughter: Mary Anastasia Pietropaoli. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, on Monday (today), October 30, 2006 from 5-8 p.m. Mr. Pietropaoli's funeral will commence at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006 , from the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 11 am from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Streets, Little Falls, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer , where he will be laid to rest. In lieu of floral tributes, kindly consider memorial offerings to a charity of your choice. A selection of envelopes is available at the funeral home.
