Obituary of Sylvia Rogers

Sylvia R. Rogers, 92, formerly of 114 Plant Road, Salisbury Center and most recently a resident of Van Allen Nursing Home, Little Falls, passed away on Wednesday December 20, 2006 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY. She was born December 13, 1914 in Curtis (Town of Salisbury), the daughter of the late Jesse & Mildred (Johnson) Moore. She was educated in Salisbury and Dolgeville schools. Sylvia was united in marriage to her husband of 70 years, Howard Rogers on March 31, 1933, in Salisbury Center by the Reverend Wesley Baker. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Salisbury Center United Methodist Church where she served for several years as Sunday School Superintendent. She was a member of the Salisbury Historical Society and a former trustee of Williams Memorial Chapel in Curtis. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose life was centered around her family. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. Sylvia is survived by two daughters, Marlene Guido of Mohawk, and Myrna Daniels of Little Falls; five grandchildren, Philip Douglas of Mohawk, Linda Crocker and husband Stephen of Little Falls, Steven Guido and wife Dina of Massapequa, and Kim & Todd Daniels both of Little Falls; a great granddaughter, Olivia Guido; and several nieces and nephews, including one specially kind and caring niece, Carol Smith. She was pre-deceased by her husband Howard, and two sisters, Pearl Miller and Elsie Smith. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service on Wednesday December 27, 2006 at 11:30 am at Curtis Cemetery, Town of Salisbury, with Reverend Joseph Albrecht, pastor of Salisbury Center United Methodist Church, officiating. In keeping with Sylvia?s wishes there are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY. Sylvia?s family would like to express a sincere thank you and appreciation to the staff at Van Allen Nursing Home for the kindness and care shown to Sylvia during her stay.
