Obituary of Sara Santillo

Mrs. Sara (Chizzonite) Santillo, 93, formerly of 200 S. Main St., and Galinsky Apts., entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning, Feb. 9, 2006 in Folts Homes, Herkimer. She was born on March 10, 1912 in Amsterdam, NY, the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Chizzonite and was educated in Little Falls schools. Her marriage to Anthony Santillo took place on April 15, 1950, at St. Joseph's church in Little Falls. The couple enjoyed a blessed and loving union of 22 years until Mr. Santillo's passing on June 13, 1973. Sara worked in several local dress shops and was last employed by the former Derby Sports Wear in Herkimer. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer. The foremost priority and concern in Sara's life was her loved ones. She was the gentle heart and the generous soul of her family and will be dearly missed by her son, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her son: Michael A. Santillo and wife Laura of New Hartford; a brother: Dominick Chizzonite and wife Sue of Little Falls/Schenectady; her cherished grandchildren: Grandaughter Lisa and Jeremy Fernet of Clifton Park; Grandson Michael and Kristen Santillo of Mohawk and Grandaughter Michelle Santillo of Utica; seven cherished great grandchildren: Michael, Adam, Kianna, Isiah, Nicholas, Ryan and Adrianna; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers and sisters in law: Rocco "Rip" Chizzonite and wife Josephine and Louis "Cookie" Chizzonite and his wife Agnes "Dolly". Visitation at the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006 from 2-5 p.m. Her funeral will commence on Monday morn., Feb. 13, at 9:15 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10 am from Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor. She will be laid to rest this spring in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Folts Homes for their loving care over the past 8 years.
