Jean M. Smith 59, of the town of Oppenheim, passed away on Wednesday August 23, 2006 with her loving family by her side at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY. She was born January 23, 1947 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Leonard & Mary (Hibbard) Hogan and was educated in West Canada Valley schools. Her marriage to James F. Smith took place on June 5, 2004 in St. Johnsville. Jean was last employed at Ripepi?s Restaurant in St. Johnsville. Survivors include her husband, James; 5 sons, Timothy Hazzard of Fort Plain, Thomas Hazzard and wife Stephanie of Gloversville, David Hazzard of Fort Plain, Ronald Hazzard, Jr., and wife Tina of Fort Plain, and Ryan Hazzard of Fort Plain, a step-son, Wade Smith of Oppenheim, a step-daughter, Nancy Fisher and husband Dean of Schenectady; 2 brothers; Joseph Hogan and wife Kathleen of Fort Plain, & Gary Hogan and wife Joanne of St. Johnsville, 2 sisters; Joyce Humphrey and husband Gerald of Little Falls, & Mary Hogan of Gloversville, 13 grandchildren, including 2 special grandchildren she raised, Mariah & Dylan Hazzard, several nieces, nephews & cousins, many in-laws and 2 life long friends, George Hazzard & Ronald Hazzard, Sr., both of Fort Pain. She was pre-deceased by a sister Susan Hogan and 2 brothers; James Hogan and Ronald Hogan. Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 26, 2006 at 1:00 pm from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY with Reverend Wally Braemer, officiating. Burial will be in Ephratah Rural Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Saturday August 26, 2006 from 11:00 am until the time of the services.
