Obituary of Harold Snyder

Mr. Harold E. Snyder 83 of 305 Lotville Road Dolgeville, died Sunday July 2, 2006 in Little Falls Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Springfield Center, New York on January 4, 1923 the son of Mr. and Mrs. (Sarah Hazzard) Snyder and attended schools in Springfield Center and Van Hornsville. A veteran of WW II he served honorably in the United States Army from December 1941 until his discharge on May 25, 1945. He served with Company B, 4th Engineer Battalion in Normandy as a light machine gunner. He was wounded there having received the Purple Heart, The Bronze Battle Star, EAME Campaign Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. His marriage to the former Elnora Pearl took place on January 23, 1971 in Dolgeville, New York. Harold was employed by Coleco Company in Mayfield as a forklift operator until his retirement from there in 1988. He was of the Lutheran Faith and a former member of the VFW of Ft. Plain, New York. He also enjoyed and was a member of the Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club. Surviving is his wife Elnora, a son Robert Snyder of Plattsburg, NY, two step Children David Smith of Starkville, and Cheryl Zwickel of Gloversville, Grandchildren and Nieces and Nephews. Graveside services will be held Thursday July 6, 2006 at 3:30 PM in the Dolgeville Cemetery. Rev. James Paulson of the United Lutheran ? Presbyterian Church of Dolgeville will officiate. There are NO Calling hours. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
