Obituary of Nicholas Stasilli

Nicholas J. Stasilli, Sr., 87 long time Herkimer resident, passed away on Saturday April 22, 2006 at St. Luke?s Hospital in New Hartford, NY. He was born December 6, 1918 in Little Falls the son of the late Fortunato and Adele (Tberini) Stasilli, and was educated in Little Falls schools. His marriage to Antoinette Stagliano on October 13, 1945 at St. Anthony?s Church in Herkimer. Nick took great pride in his work as a brick and stone mason and was recognized by many as a master at his craft. He had a strong belief in God, his work ethic and importance of financial independence. He enjoyed spending his retirement with the love of his life; Ann, his wife of sixty-one years and family. He was also a self-taught guitarist who loved all types of music which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Papa Nick was truly a great teacher. His life and values were an inspiration to his family. Mr. Stasilli was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and was a member of the CC?s (Civilian Corps). Survivors include his wife, Antoinette, 2 daughters, Laraine Morra of Mohawk, & Maria Cortese and husband Michael of Saratoga Springs, 7 grandchildren, Brock Morra, of Herkimer, Nicholas Stasilli of Florida, Mary Stasilli of California, Jennifer Sacco and husband Michael of New Berlin, NY, Joseph Cortese of New York City, & Michael & Nico Cortese both of Saratoga Springs, 3 great grandchildren, Tino Morra, Alexis Stasilli and Michael Sacco, a sister Rose Wheeler and husband Hank of Thousand Oaks, California, a special nephew, David LaPone of Florida, and several nieces, nephews & cousins. He was predeceased by 2 sons, Vincent & Nicholas J. Stasilli, Jr., 3 brothers, Albert, Jerry & Neil Stasilli, and a sister Margaret Manieri. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 26, 2006 at 10:30 am from the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph?s where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Anthony Ligato, pastor. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. There are no public calling hours. Arrangements are by the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY. All memorial contributions may be made to The American Lung Association or the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the Church or at the funeral home.
