Obituary of Joseph Stoffolano

Joseph Stoffolano, 82 of 224 Pullman St., Herkimer, passed away on Saturday March 11, 2006 at his home after a long illness. He was born June 16, 1923 in Gloversville, NY the son of the late Peter and Jennie N. (Dunn) Stoffolano and was a high school graduate. Joe had been a resident of the Herkimer area for over 47 years. His marriage to Clara H. Tanner took place on December 12, 1959 in Canaan, Connecticut. Mr. Stoffolano was a World War II Navy veteran, enlisting on November 13, 1941 and was honorably discharged on December 11, 1945 with the rank of Coxswain. Joe started his profession working at the Morning Herald in Gloversville, then moving the Herkimer where he worked at the Evening Telegram. For 23 years, Joe was employed at the Observer ? Dispatch where he held the position of newspaper pressman, retiring on June 1, 1985. He was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Little Falls, and was a member of the Herkimer American Legion Post # 38, Michael S. Pliseck Post # 4915 VFW, Herkimer, the town of Herkimer Seniors, and the International Pressman Union. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Clara; a daughter, Jean Stoffolano of Gloversville; a son, Peter J. Stoffolano and his wife Cynthia of Mason, Ohio; a brother, Dominick ?Albert? Stoffolano of Saratoga; 3 sisters, Susan Rybazewski of Johnstown, Louise Frederick of Gloversville, and June Tuscano and her husband John of Venice, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Andrew D. Gladwin, III of Niskayuna, Joseph G. Stoffolano, Anthony P. Stoffolano and Sarah M. Stoffolano all of Mason, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews & cousins. He was pre-deceased by his brothers, Frank, John, Louis, and Nelson Stoffolano and a sister, Carmella Stoffolano. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday March 18, 2006 at 11:00 am from the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls, NY with the Reverend Dr. Steven A. Scarcia, rector, officiating. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY. In Lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls, or to the Mohawk Homestead. Envelopes will be available at the church.
