Obituary of Mary Tehan

Mary Alice (Pett) Tehan, 72, of 312 Bee St., Frankfort, and most recently of London Towers, Ilion, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford. She was born on Oct. 19, 1933, in Ilion, the daughter of Edwin C. and Alice (Jennette) Holt and attended Ilion schools and BOCES. At one time, she was married to William Pett, who died several years ago. Most recently she was married to Howard Tehan Sr., who died on June 18, 1991. Mary Alice was a nurses aide at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion, and Three Maples Rest Home, Mohawk. In her retirement she loved working with children as a bus attendant at First Student Inc. She was a member of AARP. Mary Alice enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a great love for animals, especially her beloved pets Buddy and Twinkie. She also enjoyed ceramics and was an avid doll collector. Survivors include her four daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda Fresco of Frankfort, Cynthia Waufle of Little Falls, Patricia and Keith Roach, Maureen and Jeffrey Ball, all of Ilion; her seven sons and six daughters-in-law, Edwin and Erin Pett of Utica, Floyd and Christine Pett of Westmoreland, Richard and LaDonna Pett of Holland, Mich., John Pett of Omaha, Neb., Stephen and Jane Pett of Chesapeake, Va., Timothy and Kathleen Pett of Wichita, Kan., and Robert and Teryl Pett of Fort Myers, Fla.; 32 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and her casino buddy, Franny Abeline. She was predeceased by three sons, Ernest, David and Thomas Pett and his wife Pumroy; son-in-law, John Fresco; granddaughter Linda Fresco; brother, Edwin Holt; mother, Alice Holt Van Sickle and father, Edwin Holt. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, and 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of The Apostles Church, Frankfort, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Alfred A. Lamanna. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. Calling hours are Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, from 4-7 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, Ilion. The family wishes to thank Dr. Tisch, St. Luke's Home staff, especially Roxie and Shirley, Faxton-St.Luke's Healthcare, especially the dialysis staff and the Angel Squad.
