Obituary of Richard Tidd

Richard Sterling Tidd, 83, of 36 Devendorf St., Mohawk, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2006, at his home. He was born on March 31, 1922 in Carthage, NY, a son of the late Samuel and Margaret (McGrath) Tidd. Mr. Tidd was of the Catholic faith. Richard had a special artistic ability. He had work displayed at the Munson Williams Proctor Institute and Ilion Library. He also entered work in the SUNY IT Exceptional Arts Exhibit. He had received several certificates for his artistic accomplishments. Richard also donated his time in his younger years for local organizations with charitable works. He was an avid Yankees fan. Richard was affectionately known as "Mr. T." and had a wonderful sense of humor. He would always take the time to listen to his friends. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him. Richard is survived by his beloved friends and family at the Herkimer Area Resource Center, where Richard was always loved and always treated with dignity and respect. Friends are invited to visitation on Friday, January 6, 2006, at the Graves, Applegate, and Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will commence at 10:30 a.m. from the chapel of the funeral home, where prayer will be offered and at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, E. Main St., Mohawk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made in Richard's memory to the Herkimer Area Resource Center Guardianship Program.
