Obituary of Norman Vedder

Norman F. Vedder, 74, of Furnace St., Little Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday August 3, 2006 at the Oneida Healthcare Center, in Oneida, NY. He was born April 8, 1932 in Dolgeville the son of the late Norman & Edna (Foster) Vedder. Norman was educated in Dolgeville schools and attended Electronic and Math courses at MVCC. His marriage to Shirley Hysack took place on June 11, 1955 at St. Joseph?s Church in Little Falls, NY. Mr. Vedder was a United States Navy Veteran during the Korean Conflict, enlisting on May 14, 1951 and was honorably discharged on May 9, 1955. For many years, Norman worked at North Hudson Woodcraft in Dolgeville where he last held the position of Supervisor. Norman was a member of the Holy Family Parish and the Little Falls American Legion Post. A man dedicated to his family, Norman proved himself a loving and caring husband father and grandfather. In his leisure he enjoyed carpentry. Survivors include his wife 51 years, Shirley, two sons, John Vedder and wife Mullinda of Salisbury and Bill Vedder and wife Holly of Keeseville, NY; two daughters, Lynne Smith and husband Brent of Richfield Springs, and Norma Goldstein and husband Ron of Mohawk; a brother, Charles Green and wife Sandy of Dolgeville; two sisters, Isabelle Schlioka of Ilion and Nandine Johnson and husband Chris of Dolgeville; his grandchildren, Jennifer and Andrea; Kevin and Keith; Meghan, Justin and Sarah; Crysalyn and Terran and Jordan, two great grandchildren, Madelyn and Ava, a brother-in-law, Ray Urbiss and wife Marilyn of Richfield Springs, and several nieces & nephews. He was pre-deceased by a grandson, Blaise Wren, and his brothers & sisters, George, Ernest, Eddie, Marion, Jessie and Martha. In keeping with Norman?s wishes cremation was held and friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial services with full military honors on Thursday August 10, 2006 at 11:00 am at St. Mary?s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, with Reverend Anthony Ligato, pastor of the Holy Family Parish, officiating. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY.
